🍽️ Mastering the Five Mother Sauces

Sauces Covered: Tomato • Hollandaise • Espagnole • Velouté • Béchamel

Step into the world of classical French cuisine and elevate your cooking skills by learning the five essential "mother sauces" that serve as the foundation for countless recipes. In this hands-on culinary class, you'll explore the techniques, science, and flavor-building principles behind each of these iconic sauces.

🧑‍🍳 Students will learn how to:

  • Build a rich and savory Espagnole (Brown Sauce) from a dark roux and stock

  • Perfect the creamy BĂ©chamel, the base for mac & cheese, gratins, and more

  • Whisk together a silky Hollandaise with just the right tang and texture

  • Create a delicate VeloutĂ©, ideal for poultry and seafood

  • Craft a vibrant, herb-forward Tomato Sauce from scratch

Whether you're a home cook or a future chef, mastering these sauces will give you the tools to confidently improvise, enhance, and create dishes across many cuisines. Come ready to stir, taste, and transform your cooking!

Ticket: Valid for one person. To book for two people you will need to add a quantity of two to your cart.

Date: Saturday August 23rd

Time: 2pm to 4pm

Classes run time from 1 to 2 ½ hrs depending on guest arrival and recipe completion.

Any guests arriving 15  minutes past class start time will not be admitted with no refund. No leftovers will be allowed to be taken home. You will work in groups of four. 

Corpus Christi Cooking Club recipes are developed using common cooking and baking ingredients that may or may not be specified in the menu titles, including various fruits and vegetables, nuts, meats, spices, wheat flours, etc. If you have a food allergy, please check with Corpus Christi Cooking Club  before attending the class. Adjustments to recipes cannot be made during class. Each guest will get a generous taste of the dish.  

  • You will be standing, cooking and working for most of the class

  • Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back 

  • Aprons will be provided

Some portions of the class will be done before guests arrive  in order to ensure that the class finishes on time. This is a demo with hands-on elements.  At the end of this class you will receive a recipe card so you can try out your newfound skills at home!
